We all have one person whom we admire and who has transformed our lives in some form or fashion. For me, my grandmother was the most influential person in my life, and she was my biggest cheerleader. Confidence has long-term effects on our behavior, our achievements, and our life paths. My grandmother taught me the value of confidence, and stressed the importance of displaying this quality despite my differences, disappointments, and any adversities that life might bring.

Throughout my entire life, I can recall everyone addressing my grandmother by the name “Mother", including myself. Our neighbors, church members, family, and friends all called her "Mother". She was nurturing, supportive, and very loving. Mother had an incredible way of making others smile through her encouragement, frequent compliments, guidance, and prayers. Her loving presence created for us a safe space within which to cultivate our self-esteem and confidence. 

Mother is no longer with us. She passed away in late January of 2006. In honoring our dearest "Mother,” I named my business after her to continue her legacy. In French, the word Mother is called "Mère.” The word Mère resonated with me, as it symbolizes femininity and matriarchy. And, thus, inspired Mère Confidence, a Beauty and Life Consultation service geared towards creating a safe place to nurture teen girls (11-17) and women (18 and up) who are experiencing major challenges with low self-esteem and/or experiencing major or difficult life transitions.
